Sassy Wendy has coached a number of women wanting to produce food products. The problem is to find a licensed kitchen facility. Well, Lydia Walshin, who is a fabulous Cooking Instructor and more, just had this info in her blog:

Here's a business opportunity for those of you who want to create specialty food products (jams, jelly, cheese, cookies, etc.) for sale. The Dartmouth Grange Shared-Use Kitchen opened in January in Dartmouth, MA, providing a licensed facility and assistance to help farmers and other food entrepreneurs navigate local, state and federal regulations, and develop their products. Rental available on an hourly basis. More info from kitchen manager Becky Turner at 508-636-1900, and at
www.dartmouthgrange.org.

Wendy and friends Val and Athena attended a class-here's some of the fun!

Here is another great resource for you if you are looking for a kitchen facility to rent. I teach group cooking classes (cooking parties in your home and corporate team builiding cooking classes) and thought you would like to learn about another facility.

Mi Kitchen es su Kitchen welcomes you to use any of their kitchens as you need-for a day or for a month. They welcome you with open arms and will help you grow your business. This is an Incubator Kitchen -Incubators make it financially possible for a start-up food manufacturer to take advantage of available professional kitchen space while they grow their business. Located in New York City, Kathrine Gregory, Founder/Director, is an incredibley giving and helpful resource. She has been very helpful to me!
You can find out more information on her website -

Would you happen to know or have any information about licensed kitchen facility rentals in the metro-Detroit (Michigan) area.

I am looking to develop an online business selling specialty desserts and other items, but I need to find a licensed commercial kitchen in the local metro-detroit area that I can rent for a reasonable hourly or daily rate, as needed.

I'd really appreciate your help on this as I am just starting out, and need to economize wherever possible - at least at first.

Thanks in advance!

Amy, have you tried putting an ad in Craigslist? You never know if there is a restauranteur who might want to supplement her income during store downtime.
