Wendy interviewed Stephanie Cook for our Blog Talk Radio show. Stephanie is a life coach who believes that dancing for 11 minutes a day can have a powerful effect on your business. Does that sound way off the reality chart? Well…let’s think about that. Think back to the last time you went out dancing. Might have been a wedding or a night out with the girls. Maybe you were listening to your iPod while vacuuming and “Brick House” came on. Do not sit there and deny that you shook your booty. Ya know you did. How did you feel after your last dancing episode? Depressed? Confused? Uh-uh. You were energized! Jazzed! You felt alive!
So maybe the idea that an 11-minute daily dance could be used as a business tool isn’t a far reach. In our book, The Sassy Ladies’ Toolkit to Start-up Businesses, we cover the basic tools you need to get your business going or growing. We have a chapter that deals with how to optimize your home office for maximum efficiency. And if we had known about Stephanie Cook’s work, we would have recommended you have a radio in your office.
Stephanie believes that free motion – dancing – releases energy that can sustain the high intensity we need to focus on our business. It’s the same concept that exercise reduces stress, increases attention, and lifts the spirits. But you can do this any time. And it’s quick. Stephanie’s journey involves dancing 11 minutes every day through January 11, 2011. You could try it once. Before you sit down to, say, write a proposal, work on your marketing materials, or complete one of the exercises in our book, put your favorite tunes on and dance. Then, turn your attention to the task at hand. You just might find yourself joining Stephanie on her daily dance practice. It’s cheaper than a latte, better for your heart, and a beautiful way to embrace life.

p.s. This photo is so blurry you can barely make out that it’s one of us (can you guess who?) on stage playing the cowbell. But I love it because you can feel the energy. Stephanie is definitely onto something. Check out her Web site at www.freemotioncoach.com.
